I am from the time when we made things by hand because that was how it was done well. When photographs were in black and white, but life was filled with colour, like the baskets in the harvest, in every detail:

In the vines shaped by these hands, in the land, the river and the fearless boats that crossed it.

When you get to my age, you forget a lot of things. It's the age... But we remember tales of old times in vivid colours.

Blackett Very Old Port Wine is a Port wine with more than a century of age, being the maximum exponent of the exclusivity that characterizes Alchemy Wines.
It is the first Very Old Port wine released by Alchemy Wines in a limited edition production. Naturally, it will be a wine for the most demanding Port wine lovers.

What they say...

The eyes: Brown colour, with a mahogany core and a dark greenish amber on the ornaments.

The nose: Eccentric, initially revealing notes of old woods, varnishes, and waxes. Amid a great complexity of aromas, pralines, various dried fruit liqueurs, roasted coffee, some tobacco, some dark chocolate that blends with the caramel/molasses (praline), honey and discreet vinegars are unveiled.

The mouth: Where the wine reveals its best characteristics. A very unctuous, vigorous, expressive, and very wide attack. Nuts, honey, figs, tobacco, and toasted caramel are the first to emerge. Old wood notes evolve into vinegars and spices that mutate into many different varieties. The wine seems to have no end, being very long and persistent but with present acidity, which makes it fresh, scrumptious, and irresistible.

The bottle is a fabulous piece of handmade crystal from the historic Russian factory in Dyatkovo, whose origins date back to the 18th century. In the middle of the 19th century, it was acquired by Sergei Maltsov, who not only emphasised the innovative nature of the industrial manufacturing processes, but also innovated for the time by creating very comfortable conditions for his workers, opening schools, hospitals, bakeries and sewing workshops. There was even an internal railway network of over 200 km in length and its own currency. At the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, the products presented in the fabulous Russian pavilion by this company were considered by the press to be of the same standard as Bohemian crystals. Even today the factory keeps secret the formula for the composition of the raw materials used in the production of its crystal, and keeps open a museum which was inaugurated in 1835.
